FAQ
Which class should I choose?
We have provided descriptions and requirements for each class. Please email us if you have any questions! Feel free to set up a time to visit. Each level typically takes 2-3 years to move up due to the summer break.
How do I join the performance teams?
Sign up for cultural classes in the Fall! Performance teams perform from January to April. See our registration form here.
Can you come perform for us?
Yes! Our mission aims to spread and celebrate Chinese heritage. Our busiest time is between January and April. Contact us early so we can ensure performers’ availability.
I want to be involved as a parent.
Please do! We are a small non-profit organization and run by parents. Please email info@mhclc.org with your suggestions. There are many ways to help.
What cultural classes do you offer?
Our board schedules a variety of cultural classes every semester, open to everyone in the community. In the past we have offered Chinese cooking, calligraphy, East Asian history, and more! We always welcome guest speakers. Contact us at info@mhclc.org.
Am I or my child too old to learn Chinese?
It’s never too old to learn Chinese! But it is important to know what your language goals are relative to other goals. Our classes are designed for both families that want to explore how to fit Chinese learning into their busy schedules and families that want a rigorous curriculum. Join our learning community!
How can I help my child at home?
Listen to more Mandarin. The best way to learn any language is to become familiar with the sounds even if you don’t know what it means. Podcasts and music are a great way to start. At least one hour a week is our recommendation. In addition, videos with real people speaking that are engaging to kids are helpful. If you need recommendations, feel free to email your instructor or the principal.
Do you offer private lessons?
We offer online classes. Class size and schedule pending enrollment. Current students may also enroll in online lessons for additional support. Please email info@mhclc.org or register at www.mhclc.org.
